The donation event will take place at the Apex Police Department and was made possible through the generous efforts of students from Turner Creek Elementary, who raised money to purchase the 120 “Chaney” bears.

Friday’s ceremony marks the second donation event for Apex Police Department since Chaney’s Champions was formed in 2016 and brings Chaney’s Champions total donation to Apex PD to 220 “Chaney” bears.
Apex PD has given the bears to comfort children in a variety of crisis situations over the past year and a half. In addition to donations to Apex, Chaney’s Champions has donated an additional 225 “Chaney” bears to three other Triangle-based law enforcement agencies (Durham County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Hillsborough Police Department).
Chaney’s Champions was formed to honor the memory of Chaney James Corcoran, who passed away suddenly from SIDS at 10 weeks old. Chaney’s Champions was created to provide teddy bears to organizations that encounter children in a crisis situation. The “Chaney Bears” are used to help bring comfort to children in need and provide opportunities to pay kindness forward and embody the mission of Chaney’s Champions to #ChampionOn with small tokens of kindness.
To fulfill its mission, Chaney’s Champions depends on the generous financial support of family, friends, & members of the surrounding community.
