Donation Event Will Take Place Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2pm at the Clayton Police Department
APEX, NC – Chaney’s Champions, a 501C3 non-profit based in Apex, NC, will be holding a donation event on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2:00pm to donate 50 teddy bears to the Clayton Police Department. The donation event will take place at the Clayton Police Department and will feature remarks from representatives from Chaney’s Champions and Clayton Police Chief Blair Myhand.
The June 7th ceremony marks the fifth donation event since Chaney’s Champions’ formation in 2016. Chaney’s Champions has given 220 teddy bears to the Apex Police Department, 100 teddy bears to the Roxboro Police Department and Fire Department, 95 teddy bears to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, 95 teddy bears to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 190 teddy bears to the Edmarc Children’s Hospice and 25 teddy bears to the Hillsborough Police Department.
The donated “Chaney Bears” have been given by law enforcement officials to a number of children affected by a variety of situations ranging from motor vehicle accidents to domestic violence incidents. Chaney’s Champions was formed to honor the memory of Chaney James Corcoran, who passed away suddenly from SIDS at 10 weeks old. Chaney’s Champions provides teddy bears to organizations that encounter children in a crisis situation. The “Chaney Bears” are used to help bring comfort to children in need and provide opportunities to pay kindness forward, which embodies the mission of Chaney’s Champions to #ChampionOn with small tokens of kindness.
