APEX, NC – Chaney’s Champions’ partnerships with agencies that assist children has expanded and now includes UNC Children’s Hospital. On August 6, 2020, Chaney’s Champions will be donating 100 of its Chaney Bears to UNC Children’s Hospital.
As a top-tier academic medical center, UNC Children’s upholds a four-tiered mission to “CARE,” aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world-class family-centered care—always regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Chaney’s Champions was formed in 2017 to honor the memory of Chaney James Corcoran, who passed away suddenly from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old in Portsmouth, Virginia. Chaney’s Champions’ current focus is to provide teddy bears to organizations that work with children during difficult times. The “Chaney Bears” are used to help bring comfort to children in need, which provide opportunities to pay kindness forward and embody the mission of Chaney’s Champions to #ChampionOn with small tokens of kindness. To date, Chaney’s Champions has donated over 1,600 Chaney Bears to multiple organizations in North Carolina, Virginia and Michigan that work with children in need. Several donations to new and existing agencies are scheduled for August 6 and 7 which will push Chaney’s Champions’ donations over 2,000 teddy bears.
To fulfill its mission, Chaney’s Champions depends on the generous financial support of family, friends, & members of the surrounding community. More information about how to support Chaney’s Champions may be found at http://www.chaneyschampions.org
